SAL Winding Down......Spring Clinic Will Be Awesome.....USA Spring and Summer Preview Coming

Well, swimmers and divers, the 40th season is approaching our biggest and best meets of the year.  After a very successful end to our SAL dual meet season, Penn Aquatics is ready to take on the world!  Your coaches are very proud of what all of you, as a team, has accomplished thus far and excited for what our swimmers should do in the coming weeks.  Next up, we have SAL CHAMPS.  I personally want to congratulate the swimmers and divers who qualified and wish all of our athletes and volunteers who are participating good luck. LEAVE IT IN THE POOL!!!!!

I have also had a lot of questions emailed to me regarding the awesome spring clinic coming up in a couple of months.  The coaches are extremely excited at what we are putting together for it and hope to finalize what we are offering very soon.  As I am writing this. Penn Aquatics is working on pool time, staffing and other logistics that should make for THE best spring time of swimming Penn Aquatics has ever had.  I am also putting together a new spring and summer training program for all of our USA swimmers.  All I ask is that you PLEASE bear with us as we get these details out to all of you in the upcoming days.  It will be well worth the wait, I promise.

Yours in swimming......

SAL CONTINUES.....PENN AQUATICS MOVES ON!!!

Coach Jason said today "Hats off to the girl divers and swimmers as the diving team gave the lead and the swimmers would not relinquish it!"

Coach Jason took an eager, excited team on the road where few teams win and watched them perform admirably as they notched their 4th win of the season!!! Win Number 5 is waiting for them at home on Saturday (1/16/2010, 2:00pm warmup) against the Western Division Norristown Area Aquatic Club (NAAC). A full turnout of girls one more time coupled with many memorable swims may be all we need to end this great season with a bang!!!

Great job ladies and coaches! Penn Aquatics is so proud of you.

Not to be outdone, the boys SAL team answered the call with one BIG meet at home. Coach Jill was proud of them as a team, as well as individually, as several swimmers stepped up and have begun moving up the ladder on the TOP 50 listing. Check out the SAL League Website to see where our ladies and gentleman now rank. The boys go up against the Central Bucks Aquatic Club (CBAC) at the Central Bucks East high school (time to be announced by your coaches).

We also had great swims at two USA meets this weekend. Coach Dean had a great group at the Wahoo Winter Blizzard in Jersey this weekend with best times by several swimmers, some ELITE meet times, several Junior Olympic qualifying times and a lot learned along the way. Coach Jason also had a great contingent at the Odd Age Meet. All in all it was a spectacular weekend for PENN Aquatics.

This is only the start of it all! We have two big SAL meets this Saturday AND one HUGE Pennsbury SPLASH! invitational on Sunday. Get ready everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need fast swimming and lots of volunteers for all three meets.
Keep it rollin.......

2009 In Retrospect

My first season at Penn Aquatics has been (not unlike the newRegister for Pennsbury Splash! swimmers, divers and their parents) an awesome learning experience for me. I have greatly enjoyed the kids and am VERY proud of all the hard work they have been doing. I am equally proud of the coaching staff, particularly Jason and Jill, for all the work they do for the SAL meets. Their love of the sport shows each week with many personal best times being performed by our kids. I have had numerous requests about private lessons for athletes. We as a staff will discuss this at some point, but I would also like to point out the swimmers are welcome to come more than three times per week. The old recommendation that three practices per week is sufficient is gone. So, if you can make it to at least three practices that is great. However, I want to give all of our swimmers and divers the most Penn Aquatics has to offer them. My recommendations is, whenever possible, coming to all practices. Keep asking LOTS of technique questions. The swimmers that have made that commitment have had the greatest changes in their stroke and times (Just a recommendation based on my observations this season). We will continue to review this topic and many others as we look to build on Penn Aquatics’s strengths and begin the process of altering and/or changing its weaknesses. I sincerely hope to see ALL of you working hard at the practices and having fun!

A Message from Coach Jill
The past few meets proved to be full of very tough competition. The boy’s team however, rose to the occasion and took the opportunity to use the competitively charged energy to their advantage. We have seen a record amount of personal best times! The most, best times we have had in one meet all season! There were also a number of well executed technical swims. As always the positive attitude and team spirit was great to see! Great season so far, boys team!

A Message from Coach Jason
In an early morning battle with perennial powerhouse Lower Moreland, the PENN Aquatics girls put up a valiant effort, despite being hit hard by illnesses, to post more than 50 best times! With 2 more dual meets in January, the girls are peaking at the right time and Coach Jason looking to see more improvement as the girls fine-tune their strokes!
