2009 In Retrospect

My first season at Penn Aquatics has been (not unlike the newRegister for Pennsbury Splash! swimmers, divers and their parents) an awesome learning experience for me. I have greatly enjoyed the kids and am VERY proud of all the hard work they have been doing. I am equally proud of the coaching staff, particularly Jason and Jill, for all the work they do for the SAL meets. Their love of the sport shows each week with many personal best times being performed by our kids. I have had numerous requests about private lessons for athletes. We as a staff will discuss this at some point, but I would also like to point out the swimmers are welcome to come more than three times per week. The old recommendation that three practices per week is sufficient is gone. So, if you can make it to at least three practices that is great. However, I want to give all of our swimmers and divers the most Penn Aquatics has to offer them. My recommendations is, whenever possible, coming to all practices. Keep asking LOTS of technique questions. The swimmers that have made that commitment have had the greatest changes in their stroke and times (Just a recommendation based on my observations this season). We will continue to review this topic and many others as we look to build on Penn Aquatics’s strengths and begin the process of altering and/or changing its weaknesses. I sincerely hope to see ALL of you working hard at the practices and having fun!

A Message from Coach Jill
The past few meets proved to be full of very tough competition. The boy’s team however, rose to the occasion and took the opportunity to use the competitively charged energy to their advantage. We have seen a record amount of personal best times! The most, best times we have had in one meet all season! There were also a number of well executed technical swims. As always the positive attitude and team spirit was great to see! Great season so far, boys team!

A Message from Coach Jason
In an early morning battle with perennial powerhouse Lower Moreland, the PENN Aquatics girls put up a valiant effort, despite being hit hard by illnesses, to post more than 50 best times! With 2 more dual meets in January, the girls are peaking at the right time and Coach Jason looking to see more improvement as the girls fine-tune their strokes!
